Man Killed in Ford Expedition Rollover Accident

Armando Martinez, 25, was killed and two children were injured in a San Bernardino County car accident involving a Ford SUV rollover, the night of May 19, 2012. According to The Press-Enterprise, the fatal rollover crash occurred on Koala Road near Auburn Avenue in Adelanto. Officials say Martinez was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 1998 Ford Expedition and it went off the roadway. Martinez was ejected during the crash and fatally injured. Two children, ages 7 and 2, were also ejected and hospitalized following the accident. It is not clear what caused the vehicle to roll over or if the occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and many friends of Armando Martinez, the victim of this tragic rollover accident. My thoughts and prayers are also with the young children injured in this crash. I wish them the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.

San Bernardino Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), two people were killed and 28 were injured in Adelanto car accidents. During that same year, there were 223 fatalities and 7,870 injuries reported as a result of San Bernardino County car accidents.

What Caused This Fatal Accident?

Based on this news account, the vehicle rolled over and the driver was ejected. What caused the motorist to lose control? Did a second vehicle force the SUV off the roadway? Did the top-heavy design of the Expedition make it prone to rolling over? Why did the safety features on the vehicle fail to keep the driver in the vehicle? Was he wearing a seatbelt that failed to work properly? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine what occurred here and why.

Liability Issues

The family of a deceased rollover accident victim would be well advised to speak with an experienced San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, who has successfully handled auto product liability cases against large automakers. It is important that the vehicle be preserved unaltered in such cases so that it can be thoroughly examined by an expert for evidence such as vehicle defects, malfunctions and design flaws. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to car accident victims or their families.
