Car Accident Statistics
According to CHP’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were five fatalities and 144 injuries involving car accidents in Lake Elsinore. In Riverside County as a whole, 203 people died and 7,974 were injured due to car accidents, during the same year.
Possible Accident Causes
There is not much information available in the news account as to how or why this crash occurred, other than the fact that it was a broadside collision. There are a number of questions here. Did the other driver fail to yield the right-of-way to Clark’s vehicle? Did impairment, distracted driving, speed or some other form of negligence play a part in this crash? Did one of the motorists make an unsafe turn? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.
If it is determined that the driver of the pickup truck was at fault, he or she could be held liable for Clark’s wrongful death. In cases where negligence is involved, families of deceased car accident victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income, and loss of companionship. Victims’ families would be well advised to contact an experienced Riverside personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable.
