Nine Injured in Fullerton DUI Crash

By

Nine people were injured in a Fullerton pedestrian accident, which officials said, involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, police say 22-year-old Christopher Solis of Anaheim crashed a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck into a crowd of people early morning on Sunday, Feb. 10 in the city’s downtown area, which is a popular nighttime hangout with several bars and restaurants.

Serious Injuries and Ongoing Investigation

Some people were trapped under the pickup truck while others attempted to get them out. The victims, aged 18 to 49 suffered injuries ranging from moderate to critical. Most of them are still hospitalized and are expected to survive. Police are working to determine if Solis was under the influence of marijuana.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Christine Navarro, suffered a dislocated hip, a broken rib and multiple back fractures. She is now in stable condition. Witnesses said several good Samaritans rushed to help the injured and assisted emergency personnel with lifting the truck to free the trapped pedestrians.

Investigators are looking at surveillance video from cameras around the scene including dash-cam footage from a car driving from the opposite direction as the truck. Solis was arrested at the scene on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of drugs and causing great bodily injury. Police said Solis was examined by a drug-recognition expert who deemed him impaired.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been injured in this horrific crash. We wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Justice and Compensation for Victims

Based on this news report, officials are still conducting tests to confirm that the driver was under the influence of drugs. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is illegal under California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a). Drivers who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, in addition to criminal charges, can also be held financially responsible for the injuries, damages and losses they cause.

Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, pain and suffering, permanent injuries and emotional distress. An experienced Fullerton pedestrian accident lawyer will remain on their side, fight for their rights and ensure that their legal rights and best interests were protected.
