Two Injured in Orange County Car Accident

Two people were injured in an Orange County car accident after the driver of a Honda Element lost control of his vehicle and crashed in front of an auto dealership in Buena Park. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury accident happened on the 5 Freeway near Manchester Boulevard, the morning of March 17, 2010.

The driver of the Honda told California Highway Patrol officials that a large truck cut him off on the freeway causing him to lose control of the vehicle The Honda then veered across the northbound traffic lanes, crashed through a chain-link fence and struck two parked cars before coming to rest on its side. Two people sustained injuries. No arrests were made in this incident. I’m relieved to hear that no one sustained major or life-threatening injuries in this car accident. I hope and pray that the injured individuals recover quickly and completely.

Car Accidents

According to CHP’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were four fatalities and 457 injuries involving car accidents in Buena Park. Countywide, 152 deaths and 13,414 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2008.

Claim for Compensation

If the Honda driver’s statements are accurate, the driver of the big-rig could be held liable for the accident and the resulting injuries. If that was the case, the driver of the big-rig should have remained at the scene. This may have been a non-contact hit-and-run where a driver caused the accident and then left the scene. This is against California law as well. I trust CHP officials are looking into it. If they determine that the truck driver was at fault then the driver of the truck and his or her employer could be held financially responsible in this case.

In such cases, injured victims may wish to seek the counsel of an experienced Orange County car accident lawyer who will advise them about their legal right and options. Injured victims may also seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, pain and suffering and other related damages.
