Orange County Motorcycle Accident Proves Fatal


Robert Baker, 70, was killed in an Orange County motorcycle accident after a vehicle struck him.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal collision occurred on Antonio Parkway near El Prado in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Officials say Baker was riding his motorcycle south on Antonio Parkway when he collided with the driver of a Toyota sedan who was trying to merge onto the road from El Prado.

Baker was transported to an area hospital where
he died from his injuries. The Toyota’s driver remained at the scene. Officials do not believe alcohol was a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

Motorcycle Crash Statistics

There were no fatalities, but two injuries reported as a result of motorcycle crashes in Rancho Santa Margarita in 2012, according to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS).

During the same year, 23 people died and 934 were injured due to motorcycle collisions countywide.
