A teenager sustained severe head injuries in a hit-and-run car accident after a driver struck her as she was trick-or-treating the night of October 31, 2010 in Riverside. The Press-Enterprise reports the car accident happened at the intersection of Lincoln and Jamestown Avenues when a silver pickup truck hit the 14-year-old trick-or-treater and then sped away from the scene. Witnesses say the driver of the pickup made no attempt to slow down or stop before striking the girl. The teen has been hospitalized in critical condition. Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver.
I certainly hope this girl has not suffered catastrophic injuries. I wish her the very best for a speedy and full recovery. She and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Holding Hit-and-Run Drivers Accountable
It is not clear why this driver left the scene of this major injury collision. But what this individual did shows a callous disregard for the life of another human being. What kind of a person knocks down a child unconscious and doesn’t even stop to help the injured victim? This incident makes my blood boil. This is not a driver who should be out on the roadway. I hope officials catch up with this individual and prosecute him or her to the fullest extent of the law.
