San Bernardino County Car Accident Injures Three

At least three people were injured in a head-on car accident in San Bernardino County, the Victorville Daily Press reports. The car crash occurred on Palmdale Road near Eaby Road in Phelan the afternoon of July 6, 2009, California Highway Patrol officials said. A Toyota Sienna that was traveling east on Palmdale Road slowed to avoid hitting a loose dog on the street. A pickup truck, unable to stop in time, rear-ended the van and pushed it into oncoming traffic causing a Hyundai to crash head-on into the van. The Hyundai then hit an embankment and rolled over on its roof. Two adults from the Sienna were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Hyundai was also injured. Good Samaritans helped the accident victims get out of the car before help arrived.

I’m relieved that none of the victims in this rollover car crash suffered any life threatening injuries. I know a car accident can be physically as well as psychologically and emotionally traumatic. I wish all the injured victims the best for a quick and complete recovery. Please keep them in your prayers.

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 308 deaths and 9,920 injuries reported in San Bernardino County as a result of car accidents.

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Toyota Sienna may have been at fault for slowing down or coming to a stop suddenly and without adequate warning. California Vehicle Code Section 22109 states: “No person shall stop or suddenly decrease the speed of a vehicle on a highway without first giving an appropriate signal…to the driver or any vehicle immediately to the rear when there is opportunity to give the signal.”

It is always a good idea for injured victims in a car accident to consult with an experienced San Bernardino car accident attorney, who will analyze all aspects of the case and determine the negligent parties. In any car accident, the party at fault is liable for damages. A skilled California personal injury lawyer will also look into whether other factors such as another vehicle or a dangerous condition on the roadway caused or contributed to the car crash.
