The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the motorcycle versus car accident occurred the morning of October 11, 2010 on Imperial Avenue in San Diego. San Diego Motorcycle Accidents

What Caused This Horrific San Diego Motorcycle Accident?
I trust the authorities are investigating every detail of this car accident and determining if the Jeep’s driver should be cited. There are a number of potential reasons for rear-end car accidents. Distracted or inattentive driving causes many such car accidents. Others are the result of drivers who are following the car in front of them too closely and cannot react in time to an unexpected change in speed. According to California Vehicle Code Section 21703: “The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicle and the traffic upon, and the condition of, the roadway.”
The motorcycle officer was injured here while on-the-job, so he will be entitled to workers compensation benefits. However, if it is determined that the driver of the Jeep was at fault, the officer could also file a claim against the driver seeking compensation for his injuries and losses. Car accident victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, medication, physical therapy and other related damages. It would be in victims’ best interests in such cases to seek the counsel of an experienced San Diego personal injury lawyer, who will advise them about their legal rights and options.
