Student Injured in San Diego School Bus Accident

A student sustained injuries in a San Diego car accident after a school bus collided with a car at a street intersection. San Diego 6 reports that the accident occurred the morning of January 29, 2010 at the intersection of Carlton Oaks Drive and West Hills Parkway in the city of Santee. Authorities said they were six other students on board the school bus, but all others were uninjured.

My heart goes out to this student who has sustained injuries in this school bus accident. I wish this victim the very best for a speedy and full recovery and hope the injuries were not major. This young victim will be in my prayers.

Traffic Accidents

According to CHP’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there was one fatality and 141 injuries involving car accidents in Santee in 2007. Countywide, 268 people died and 14,641 were injured as a result of car accidents in 2007.

What Caused this Injury Accident?

This report does not clearly state how or why this accident occurred. There are several questions here. The main issue as with most street intersection accidents is whether one of the drivers failed to yield right-of-way. There is also the issue of whether one of the drivers ran a red light. I trust investigators are looking into these and other issues in order to determine who or what caused this accident.

If either one of these drivers is determined to be negligent in this case, he or she could be held liable for the student’s injuries. It is not clear how badly or seriously the student was injured. The victim’s family in this case would be well-advised to seek the legal counsel of an experienced San Diego bus accident lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the accident and make sure that the negligent parties are held responsible for their actions. If the school bus driver was at-fault, the bus company and the school district could be held liable. California Governmental Code section 911.2 states that any claim against a governmental entity in must be properly filed within six months of the accident or injury.
