What Caused This Crash?
Based on this news report, it appears that what started out as a serene tour of the city went awry very quickly. The serious injury collision occurred in the heart of the city’s Union Square, a 2.6-acre public plaza in downtown San Francisco.
Union Square also encompasses the central shopping, hotel and theater district that surrounds the plaza for several blocks. Obviously this was an extremely crowded part of town, which was crowded with locals and tourists on a Friday afternoon, just as the weekend was about to start.
We trust officials are looking into how and why this collision occurred. There are a number of unanswered questions here.
Was the driver under the influence at the time? Did the driver have a medical condition, which caused him to lose control of the bus? Was there a vehicle defect or mechanical malfunction, which caused the bus to veer out of control? Was there an issue with bus maintenance?
Based on the circumstance of the crash and what caused it, the bus driver and/or the tour bus company can be held liable for the victims’ injuries and losses.
Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering and emotional distress.
Injured victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced San Francisco personal injury lawyer who can help protect their best interests and obtain fair compensation for their losses.
