Hit-and-Run Laws

Based on news reports, the driver of the Mitsubishi fled without even stopping to check on the critically injured teen or trying to help him in any way. Outrageous! Under California Vehicle Code 20001 (a), it is illegal for drivers to leave the scene of an injury or fatal crash.

Motorists are also required to exchange pertinent information with all parties involved in the incident and most importantly, render aid to injured victims. This could be something as simple as calling 911.
