Sun Valley Hit-and-Run Crash Injures Two

Two people have been injured in a hit-and-run collision, which officials say occurred at a bus stop in Sun Valley. According to a CBS news account, the injury crash occurred at the southeast corner of San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street. Officials say a car was traveling south on Sheldon the morning of September 22, 2012, when it made a left onto San Fernando and lost control, striking a man and woman who were at the bus stop. Both victims were transported to area hospitals after one complained of pain and the other victim possibly sustained a broken leg. At least one person was detained. It is not clear if other suspects are being sought.

My heart goes out to the injured victims of this Los Angeles car accident. I wish them the very best for a speedy and full recovery. Please keep them in your prayers.

Los Angeles Pedestrian Accidents

According to CHP’s 2010 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 100 fatalities and 2,512 injuries involving pedestrian accidents in Los Angeles. Countywide, pedestrian accidents claimed 195 lives and injured 4,535 people during the same year.

Hit-and-Run Collision

Based on this news report, the driver of the car may have attempted a dangerous turn and lost control of the vehicle. It is not clear if the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed or driving recklessly at the time. It is also unclear if the driver was under the influence. In addition to losing control of the vehicle and striking the two pedestrians, it appears that the driver and possibly passengers fled the scene of the crash leaving the two victims at the scene. Unconscionable! It is not only inhumane and irresponsible to leave the scene of an injury crash, but it is also against the law.

California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”

Holding Hit-and-Run Drivers Accountable

I certainly hope officials apprehend the at-fault party or parties involved in this hit-and-run and bring them to justice. If you have any information, please visit our website at to offer an anonymous tip and become eligible to receive a $1,000 reward.

Injured hit-and-run victims are often left with significant financial burdens including medical expenses, cost of treatment and losses caused by their inability to work as they recover from their injuries. Victims in such cases would be well advised to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles, who will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. If the hit-and-run driver is apprehended, but is uninsured or underinsured, an experienced accident attorney can advise victims about how they can seek compensation through the uninsured motorist clause of their own auto insurance policy.
