U.S. Marine Killed in San Diego Car Accident

Lance Corporal Justin Lewter, 20, a U.S. Marine based at Camp Pendleton, was killed in a San Diego car accident the morning of November 4, 2009. According to a 10news report, Lewter died when a military Humvee struck his personal vehicle at Basilone and Las Pulgas roads in Camp Pendleton. It is not clear how or why this fatal car accident occurred. No one else was injured.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and fellow Marines who are grieving the loss of Lance Corporal Justin Lewter. This must be a tragic and heartbreaking loss for them. Apparently, he was a rifleman in his battalion and was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. I salute this U.S. Marine and am proud of his accomplishments as a fellow American. His family will be in my prayers.

San Diego Car Accidents

This news report does not provide much information about who or what may have caused this fatal car accident. There are more questions than answers here. What type of vehicle was Lewter driving? Based on the article, the collision happened at the intersection of two streets. Did this intersection have a traffic light? If not, which vehicle had the right-of-way at this intersection? Did one of the drivers fail to yield right-of-way that caused this car accident? Did alcohol, drugs, speeding, distraction or any other form of negligence become a factor in this accident? These are a few questions that need to be answered in this case. Lewter’s family has suffered a huge blow and deserves to know exactly who or what was responsible for this deadly crash.
