Glendale police are looking for a person of interest in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left 72-year-old Novar Ismailyan dead. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, officials say Ismailyan was on her way home after shopping at a nearby grocery store and was crossing the street near the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Linden Avenue. Police say Ismailyan was almost on the other side when the collision occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reward Offered for Information
Authorities have offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run driver. There were reportedly no witnesses to the collision. However, some observers said they did see a woman get out of a vehicle she was driving in the area to inspect it after the incident.
Surveillance video from a nearby business also shows the woman stopping her vehicle along the street and turning on her hazard lights before getting out. The suspect is described as a white female in her late 50s to early 70s. The vehicle is said to be a black Toyota Prius made sometime between 2005 and 2015. Anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle involved in the incident can contact Glendale police at 818-548-4911.
We offer our deepest condolences to the family members of Novar Ismailyan for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Justice for Victims’ Families
It is illegal under California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) to leave the scene of an injury or fatal crash. Under the law, motorists are required to stop immediately at the scene of the crash, remain at the scene and help the injured victim or victims. In this case, the driver fled the scene leaving a fatally injured, elderly woman lying in the street.
We hope the hit-and-run suspect in this case is apprehended and brought to justice. Families of deceased victims in such cases can file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for damages such as medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income, pain and suffering and loss of love, care and companionship.
An experienced Los Angeles car accident can also help families where the driver has not yet been identified or apprehended. In such cases, compensation may be available through the uninsured motorist clause of the victim’s auto insurance policy. Hit-and-run cases can be complex and challenging. A knowledgeable hit and run lawyer can help protect your rights and help you secure maximum compensation for your losses.
